  1. Unfortunately if NCL skips Bermuda - they will add anoter sea day. The ships cannot dock any earlier than planned and ships do not stay overnight in St. Martin. Either way - the ship will be in warm weather.
  2. Last year we went at the same time on this cruise. Bermuda was supposed to be the last stop after Tortola but we were informed that we were not going due to weather. It was 3 sea days home. Too much for us. This time Bermuda is on the way down. I assume if we miss it - at least we will be in warm weather for the extra day. Either way, the last stop is Puerta Plaza and then 2 sea days home. We have been on the Getaway many times. It is a beautiful, fun ship. I know you will love it as there is tons to do for your children and you. The shows are great! Even if we skip Bermuda - the arrival time at St. Maarten is 1pm. The ship will not arrive any sooner. I will be watchig to see if you stop in Bermuda - I watch the port on PTZ TV webcam. Have fun!!
  3. I don't understand why NCL keeps putting Bermuda on this itinerary because the ship hardly ever stops there. We have had the same thing happen to us and ended up with 3 sea days home. By day 3 it was unbearable because the outside weather was very cold and windy. One would think the ship would cruise around in the warm weather longer but no, the Captain booked it to NY. The North Atlanric is unforgiving in Feb/March. Pack good books and crossword puzzles. We are leaving on 2/26 on the same cruise and keeping our fingers crossed that we stop in Bermuda on the way down. We took this date because no matter what, it is 2 sea days home from Puerta Plata.
  4. No, it is about the amount of "sea days". A stop in Bermuda on the way down breaks up the sea days. It is supposed to be 2 sea days back but on this trip it is 3. It seems like the whole itinerary was rearranged. I have been on the Getaway twice when it never went to where it was supposed to. It is the only ship homeporting in NYC for the season so I have limited options.
  5. Does anyone have any information on the why the NCL Getaway skipped Bermuda which was supposed to be its first stop? It seems like the whole itineray was backwards. The ship is now on its way back to NYC from the Carribean. This is 3 full sea days on the return trip. We are looking at this cruise for February and it seems like Bermudaa is always skipped. Thank you.
  6. I would not rely on anything NCL tells you about catching your flight. Yiu need to go with your gut and make your own arrangements. We were just in Alaska and our flght was at 11:30am. I booked the ship's transfer to the airport and was told it would leave at 9am. The airport was at last 45 minutes away. I kept going to customer service because I was worried that we would miss our flight to Boston. Seattle airport is enormous and CROWDED!! They kept reassuring me that I would get my flight. I even asked for a refund - which was denied- so I could grab a cab earlier. Needless to say - as soon as people were let of the ship around 7:30am - we were outside. I went up to one of the many airport transfer busses and asked when they were leaving - they told me as soon as the bus was full. We got on and left for the airport. We just made it with 1/2 hour to spare before boarding. I had the same experience last March getting from Manhattan to JFK - the transfer bus sat outside the cruise terminal and did not leave until 1pm -even though I was told that they leave as soon as the bus fills up. We barely made our flight to Worcester. Our trip to NOLA was last December and we are leaving Sunday for Bemuda out of Manhattan. We are driving to and from Manhattan from Massachusetts. No flights!
  7. NOLA cruisepost is a nightmare! First, it is too small to handle the large ships. It is the homeport of another cruiseline which sails the same itinerary as the Breakaway so there can be thousands of passengers coming and going at the same time. We arrived a day early and took the shuttle from the hotel, which was nice, but had to suffer for hours in the terminal to get on the ship. Getting off was also as bad- complete and total chaos and it took forever to get to the exit doors - - and trying to get a taxi to get to our hotel - unreal. I am just glad we were not flying home on that day but staying for a few days in NOLA. We were on the same itinerary as you are and ours was over the Christmas holiday. We had a wonderful time on the ship! Just pack a LOT of patience for embark and disembarkation at that termnal.
  8. Many of the Boston/Canada sailings have had itinerary changes because NCL just won't cancel. This is what I wrote a few weeeks ago: _The NCL Joy is sitting in Bermuda during a tropical storm which is the remnant of Idalia. She left NY on 8/30/23 even though Franklin and Idalia were posing active threats to Bermuda. Last year I was rerouted to Canada for basically a non-existent hurricane which actually followed our path up the coast to Canada with wicked winds. (Newport, Portland & St. John's), Who makes these decisions? The Joy sat in Bermuuda lashed to the dock for 2 days battered by wind and rain. No fun.
  9. A bad day in Bermuda is better than a good day at home.😊

  11. I hope the new CEO listens to his repeat customers and initiates changes that benefit the guest, I have been cruising with NCL since 2001 and there have been many changes just over the past 5 years. For example, 60 free internet minutes were included in the Latitudes rewards for certain tier levels. Now, Free Internet is included with the Free At Sea promotions. What BS - we always book the Sailaway rate and received certain perks through our tier level (free internet, 4 Specialty Restaurant dinners, etc.), Many room amenities and touches are gone - no tubes of lotion, no welcoming champagne, no evening turndown service. I understand cutbacks since COVID but we are paying more for less. Paying attention to small details is important. We recently sailed on the GEM and it was a great cruise - we love the GEM! I can only say that the food in the Garden Cafe was not what we expected - many cutbacks and items unavailable. Also, during the last 3 days of the cruise - the ship was out of many items. The Thai Orchid was using their Lunch Menu at dinner because many dinner items were unavailable. Bananas, oranges and bagels were MIA. We did have an extra sea day due to an itineray change but I don't think that impacted the food situation. I hope Mr. Herrera addresses the customer service issues that many of us have encountered, the quality of the food, and the Latitudes Rewards program. Bring back the 60 free internet minutes!
  12. Both the NCL Getaway and Gem have bypassed Bermuda this week The Getaway went to Miami for its last port of call and the Gem is heading strait to New York. Does anyone know why these changes are happening?
  13. The NCL Gem is also bypassing Bermuda and is heading back to New York. Bermuda was supposed to be the last port of call this week. That is 2 ships this week. What is going on? ..
  14. The NCL Getaway has bypassed Bermuda and is now in Miami. Does anyone know why there was a change?
  15. Maybe NCL needs to stop building Mega Ships and focus on the ships they have and also itineraries. We have been cruising with NCL for over 20 years and have loved the entertainment on the smalller ships like the Dawn, GEM etc. We have also enjoyed the permanent shows on the larger ships but having sailed many times on the Breakaway, Getaway, etc, having the same show is redundant. NCL has changed dramatically since COVID, but their loyal customers are out there and are being driven to other lines because of the changes. I have stopped filling out their after cruise surveys because they are useless. Paying attention to small details that bring back customers should be the norm - not making ridiculous cutbacks to keep building Mega Ships.
  16. My husband and I have been going to Bermuda every year since 2001 (mostly on the Boston to Bermuda trip). We live 45 minutes out of Boston but have also taken the cruise from Manhattan - all on NCL. Bermuda is beautiful, the ship docks for 2-3 days and it is easy to get around by bus, ferry, taxi or excursion. The Dockyard is safe and has everything right there (shopping, restaurants, ferry and bus service. etc.). It is also beautiful. We have been to the Eastern & Western Caribbean and many of the ports are dumps so unless you stay on the ship, you must spend hundreds of dollars on excursions. It is not safe to walk around these ports - everyone trying to sell you everything and armed militia everywhere. We have also been to Nassau many times and do not get off the ship anymore. It is not like this in Bermuda. NCL trimmed a day off of the Bermuda itinerary last year and added Bar Harbor, Maine before going back to Boston. It s a tender port with nothing to do there. It is relatively cold there until July/August. What is the point of going there? Most of the cruisers on the Boston/Bermuda cruise are from New England and can drive to Bar Harbor. NCL supposedly had an agreement regarding bringing ships to increase tourism dollars - but it is a small town and cannot handle the amount of people or ships. The concern has become the eco systems and impact on the town itself. That is why there is a lawsuit. NCL needs to go back to its original itineray of 3 days/2nights in Bermuda out of Boston or even Manhattan. Forget Norfolk and Bar Harbor.
  17. If NCL wants to reduce its carbon footprint - drop the Bar Harbor stop on its way from Bermuda to Boston. What a joke! Why in the world did NCL ever make such a ridiculous decision? As it stands now Bar Harbor has an injunction limiting the amount of cruise passengers to 1000 per day and is being challenged in court to have it lifted. Also, NCL has dropped its stop in Norfolk on its NY-Bermuda run claiming the carbon footprint excuse. Why stop there anyway? It is not warm there until the middle of the summer - just like Bar Harbor. I want to go to Bermuda - nowhere else. 3 days in Bermuda is the cruise I took from Boston since 2000 - why change it?
  18. So my daughter and her family should be leaving tomorrow on the Breakaway for the Western Caribbean. There is brutal weather all over and she was supposed to fly from SF to Houston to NOLA. These flights were bookd by NCL. She was notified today that she will be flying to Chicago and then to NOLA. When she asked why they are flying her into a storm there were no responses. These responses were from NCL and United Airlines I tried to disuade her from booking with NCL after the 2 disappointing cruises we had with them this year. I tried to get her to go on Celebrity. She is learning what poor customer service they have and that once they have your money - you are a ghost,
  19. Just curious as to how your cruise was despite the port changes. I hope it was enjoyable.
  20. I believe it is because it is a non - refundable credit. Gratuities are considerd "cash". We always pay our gratuities when we book the cruise - it makes it easier. I had a problem with my with my room bill on my last cruise - first time ever. We received a $100.00 non- refundable credit becuase our cruise went to Canada instead of Bermuda and we were reimbursed $80.00 in cash on the ship for the Bermuda Travel Authorization fee. By my calculations - we should have only owed $26.00 but were charges $126.00. We wrote to NCL asking where the extra $100.00 dollars came from and could not make heads or tails of their explanation. I wrote back to them and still waiting.
  21. I have been cruising to Bermuda since 2020. The TA was implemented when Bermuda began to allow travel after COVID. We pay port fees in the total cost of the cruise. When travel began ro Bermuda after COVID it was extremely prohibitive. It has been 1 year since cruise ships have returned to Bermuda. Bermuda was hit very hard during COVID and had many restrictions on its own residents. A small island with a small hospital - they needed to be strict. When we were there last October, Jet Blue had announced that they were suspending flights until 2022. Many people we spoke with were upset because Bermudians come to the US for medical treatment. They come to Boston and Worcester, MA to go to our hospitals and visit specialists. We are not charging anyone $40.00 a pop to enter our country for any reason. Enough is Enough, COVID is a money grab now.
  22. The truth is that NCL has gone considerably downhill. Lots of cuts in room amenities and we had to ask for everything including our discount on the one excursion we took in Saint John. We had to ask for our $50.00 port excursion credit and our Latitiudes discount of 15%. (A total of $42.00) I asked my cabin steward for a tube of lotion that used to be in the room upon arrival and he told me it was for Haven passengers only. We spent nearly $2000.00 total on this trip and I could not get a .10 cent tube of lotion. In prior days, the NCL website had a weather alert message posted on the the top of the page where information woulf be posted. It generally said that NCL was monitoring conditions and possible itinerary changes. But no more - that is gone. So no information regarding changes can be found anywhere - not even in my junk/spam mail. What i got instead were repeat e-mails about watching the safety video and the paperwork needed to enter Bermuda. Nothing else. Finally, the process of doing the nightmare paperwork onboard to get into Canada was excrutiating. The paperwork for Bermuda was a lot easier. I was told that I needed the approval barcode on my person along with vaccination cards and my whole life story to get off the ship. Not one Canadien official was present or checked anything when I got off or back on the ship. Cruises are supposed to be fun, relaxing and stress free. NCL needs to get their act together.
  23. I received a text while I was sleeping that my cruise to Bermuda out of NY was changed. It told me to read the e-mail (which i did not rceive) or call their number. I called and got a Customer Service representative in the UK. She was very patient and kind, she read me the e-mail about the changes. While i never received an email about the changes,in the past few days i received multiple e-mails abour watching the safety video and documents needed to embark to Bermuda. Not one e-mail about NCL monitoring the hurricane or possible changes to my itinerary. No, they wait until people are sleeping only to wake up to bad news. I have been cruising with NCL since 2001 with close to 30 cruises. After my cruise last March i was on the fence about going out with them again because of the terrible experience I had with that cruise, I gave them another chance and now I am done with them. Never again on NCL. I know NCL does not care that I am heartbroken and disgusted with how this has turned out. I understand the weather amd hurricane protocols but to not have any advanced comunicaton regarding possible itinerary changes led me to believe that the cruise would go as planned. Good Riddance
  24. NCL and another cruise line have cancelled all of their stops in Bermuda for their transatlatic and other cruises. This is because Bermuda is one of the last stops. not the first. Passengers on these cruises would have to have the Bermuda Travel Authorization, a negative covid test upon embarkation, and anoher negative covid test 2 days before arriving in Bermuda (taken aboard the ship) all at the passenger's expense. This is likely a day stop - not an overnight. Cruise lines have been negotiating with Bermuda all season to try to ease entry requirements. At least the travel authorization came down from $75.00 (when we went last October) to $40.00. But nothing else. We love cruising and we love Bermuda. We are cruising there this month on a 5 night out of NY and it has cost an extra $220.00 just to enter the terminal. CB
  25. So Bermuda is going to allow unvacinnated travelers into the country now. Yet, it still requires an approved Travel Authorization for $40.00 per person and a negative Covid Test. Both will cost up to an extra $110.00 per person. What is the point? Why not just require a negative Covid Test to board the ship and forego the Travel Authorization? My husband and I went to Bermuda last October, did all of the applications ($75.00 per person then), went through all of the Covid Testing before we were approved by Bermuda and had 2 tests at the terminal ( one rapid, one PCR) before we could board the ship. We had a great cruise and we love Bermuda - we don't mind going through the hoops to get there. The Travel Authorization is not an NCL requirement - it is just a Bermudian travel tax. If they are going to allow unvaccinated travelers to enter the country, they should do away wih the Travel Authorization requirement.
