  1. @LukeJ yes I certainly will do that. We are looking forward to the trips around the beautiful country and very much looking forward to photographing the fjords in all its beauty.
  2. I agree with everyone on here. @Kendall James-Vargas I agree if anyone wants to jump, then nothing will stop that person. The railings and barriers are high enough imo to prevent accidental falls, so it's pointless making them higher because they will find another way. @kefthecruiseryup again I'm with you. I wouldn't like a birdcage either, not only would I not be able to see the ocean view which on a vacation I would like to do, but I'd feel claustrophobic if I had to be condensed in.
  3. Your body needs meat. Regardless of what people may say or believe. I spent a long time working as a chef, and despite the obvious reasons of deliciousness of the dishes, meat and poultry are amazing for you as it contains protein which is good for growth. It also has nutrition goodness in it too your body needs, iron, zinc, iodine and loads of vitamins.
  4. Priorities sorted there. I agree, materials are expensive and one I personally don't understand, but I appreciate that there are people who love designer stuff and work hard to get it and look good, that's up to each individual. But myself, I would rather save that money and buy something worthwhile in my mind. If that's a vacation to keep memories with my family then thats what I will do.
  5. I could never imagine being onboard for 28 days. I've never done a vacation more than 14 days. What was it like being onboard for that length of time? Does it get better the longer you are on, or were you ready to go home by that time?
  6. I will definitely be taking my pro camera with me. I can't wait to photograph those amazing views.
  7. It always amuses me whenever you go abroad on holiday and walk about and see holidaymakers sitting there watching TV. I understand if it's a live sports game, I would be there too however most TVs that are on are repeats of Friends and the amount of people sit there watching that still baffles me.
  8. I'm looking forward more to the port calls than the ship if I'm honest. I'm sure the cruise itself will be magical however the thought of seeing other countries, trying out its foods and absorbing the culture and atmosphere of the towns is what get me going.
  9. By what I've been told and read about, Thailand is one of the safest destinations in southeast Asia. Thousands go every year for the weather and it's white sands as well as it's popularity of its foods. Friends of mine that have been in the past have commented on its amazing nightlife.
  10. I can understand why people are put off these huge ships. Sometimes you just would like a smaller elegant cruise that can feel homely. The bigger the ship, the more people, more noise and more queues.
  11. I'd be keen to hear people's thoughts and opinions when cruising to Australia and New Zealand, as I would hope to do that journey myself one day. Where would the best ports of call be do people think?
  12. I'm not one for plant based dishes I'm afraid. If people wish to try then by means, let them continue. However I would prefer a more traditional meal myself.
  13. I tend to agree that smaller portions are the best way forward as you can eat more if you want and you won't feel full that can ruin the rest of your day if bloated. A fistful on your plate is more than enough.
  14. I agree it has become the norm and as a society, we have allowed it to happen and turn the other way.
  15. @FJB that's an interesting take. I know that they have begun having juices in cans and that was good for recycling too. Each product, be it can, glass or plastic is not entirely good for the environment or the ocean if any would be thrown into it, it's still our responsibility to recycle. Maybe a cardboard packaging would be more suitable like they do with juice. If it gets thrown rather than recycled, at least it can decompose into the ground in time.
  16. Unfortunately it's the same for most professions not just captain's. If anything goes wrong in the workplace, it's the manager that have the responsibility on their shoulders. It's the nature of the beast I'm afraid. But that's the reason why the accept the role for that reason and get very well paid for that role.
  17. If not, would you be able to take a case of Dr pepper onboard?
  18. There are ways around then I guess. I was quite surprised to get a cruise to the Norwegian Fjords at a better deal than a trip to the Mediterranean. Because we now aren't going by plane to the destination, what we once had a simple room, we now have a beautiful room with a balcony going to a better destination.
  19. The parents should take responsibility for the children's behaviour. I know we live in a world where people are rude and don't care, happily allowing their kids to run amok and disrespectful to any establishment, but the fact we should punish the parents who believe that is welcomed.
  20. The need for changing the menus is a must. Not only is it better to have something new for guests, but also the chefs need something to do other than the same repetitive dishes as always.
  21. @Aquainst1 victimised? How can someone actually believe that. These people annoy me, believe they have done nothing wrong and then have that spiteful attitude about them when someone actually speaks up. If God forbid, those children fell, it would have been someone else fault too. I'm glad she got removed, they need to be made an example of.
  22. Yeah I'm sure that I will make an appearance to see what's what on the ship. I believe a nice jog around the deck would have been a better option. To see the views while having a run in the fjords would be a beautiful day.
  23. It was our fault if I'm honest. We were away with our college and snuck out when we should have been in a safety meeting. And went to order a takeaway which we all managed to get poisoning through unhygienic preparation. This was before the health and safety aspect which exists today.
  24. @Maggie Mae Marentette this is an absolute perfect idea. I can actually see this working, and being successful. However I believe this wouldn't just fall to the older generation as you say, I'm sure there will be younger people that wish to have some respite and a chill out rather than entertainment. If you know of a cruise going cheap, you could even do that yourself ha ha.
  25. Yes you are spot on. In most places, we would incorporate all the waste into something like pies or soups. But what we found is that we had so much soup and pies that we didn't know what to do with it. It was really about trying to teach people in ordering correctly and not have so much waste. Some would accept it, and others continued wasting.
