Cruise N C L $6500 mistake Nov 6 -14

Recommended Posts

Normally I would never complain public wise, but this is something cruise goers should know. 43 days prior to the cruise below, NCL came back and shared this. They gave $150 credit to those who were hoping to go to Puerto Plata and Cozumel Mexico to sooth the 2 lost ports on a 14 day itinerary. After contacting NCL, they would not credit any cancellations nor would they help or assist in finding a solution to this bazaar change of schedule. The reason I booked the itinerary on the left was because of the vast array of ports on the schedule. NCL knew that by eliminating 2 of the ports for the Breakaway ship they claim maintenance on, that they could probably save thousands on port fees and lost onboard revenue, but also save costs on the fuel it would take to move this mighty ship through the waters to meet such a schedule.

The result...the traveler has no choice but to like it or lump it. No refunds at this point. No switching because of NCL's last minute CHANGE. What do you all think? Would you ride on NCL again after this?

Thanks for reading this. :)

The same thing happened to us- booked for Bermuda, changed to Newport, RI, Portland, ME and St John, NB. NCL gave us 10 hour notice! Luckily we were still home and could repack with warmer clothes. Then spent 2 hours online to be able to enter Canada just to find out most everything is closed on Sunday.

As a fellow Navy vet, I can tell you the food we were served was so bad (gray beef) that if this was a Navy ship, the cook wouldn’t have dared to go on deck at night.

I will never make this mistake again!

i am also on this cruise and i’m beyond furious!!!! first 5 days at sea is way too much and how can they eliminate Cozumel, which every ship to and from nola manages to stop at!! they could have at least added their own private island. we booked this cruise specifically for the itinerary, as the ship itself sucks big time!!!!

The cruise contract that we all accept allows the cruise line the flexibility to change the itinerary as they deem necessary.  I experienced a cruise where the entire itinerary was changed from the Eastern Caribbean to the Western Caribbean.  Be "furious" if you like, but it won't change the facts or terms that you agreed to accept.

The change in itinerary is actually common, especially during hurricane season.  This is necessary to ensure the safety of everyone on the ship and the people living at the ports of call.  Not to mention they have to make sure that their ship is safe from unnecessary damage.
