  1. Loved the show. I also like lighthouses and believe they are an important part of our history. I love the concept and I also love the designs of them. There is something magical about a lighthouse when you see them up close. Even after all this time.
  2. So what would happen if you were booked on a cruise, and the hurricane season was forecast for the week they you were on it? Would you spend the week at port on the ship docked waiting?
  3. It baffles me that people break the rules. I understand it's a challenge to push it to the limit, but rules are rules. They are there for a reason, to stop chaos. I am a stickler for keeping to the rules, and sometimes I'm ridiculed for it, but a world without rules is a frightening place. And when they break them, these people cannot understand why they no longer can continue.
  4. Isn't the reason why airships aren't used anymore is the cost to run them is extortionate with the cost of helium. How much costs would it take for LNG to run the ships? Is it better than it is now? I am all for cleaner energy used in ships, more the merrier, but I'm just wondering if it costs more, then companies will no doubt start making cuts to save money because they are a business after all, and seek to make a profit somehow, whether that is cut saving costs or passengers paying through their nose for a vacation.
  5. @Cruising Caribbean I guess being a parent does have a certain caution towards everything. May be slightly worrying about nothing, but these things are easily done. The cliche of it will never happen to you, well it does happen, and it can be to you.
  6. I've only just read this story. This is truly shocking news. How could this person think he can get away with it. What was the outcome regarding the ships, assuming he has been banned obviously but was there a further punishment?
  7. @PaulB I'm definitely with you on that score. I too don't do shopping on holidays. I enjoy sight seeing and excursions not spending my days standing in a middle of a clothes line. Maybe I shall see you at the bar 🍺
  8. Isn't it a tragedy that there are so many people that go overboard. The latest one by all account was merely looking over the side and apparently fell over. It does scare my slightly taking my young son with us on the next ship. It's so easily done.
  9. @Cruising Caribbeanyou're quite right in saying no easy job, same as what's the hardest. But the job I would have liked is photographer on board.
  10. Yeah I'm sorry to hear you received this experience. As you 100% said, you paid a lot of money to be on the cruise and experience the whole thing to be lied to in order for the greed of the company to make more money is not something that should be taken lightly. I don't like the sound of that and Disney should be ashamed of themselves for treating paying customers this way.
  11. What the question next would be what is the easiest job onboard do you think or which job would anyone like if they had a pick of the fill?
  12. @Cruising Caribbean yes I totally agree with you in regards to a positive mindset. If you are doing something thinking negative from the start, then it will be unlikely that you will enjoy that at all. It can be quite difficult to think of positive things at times depending on your job, but again a more positive mindset will change all that.
  13. @PaulB I would have thought every job was challenging in its own way as some would be harder in a way that they have so much responsibility on their shoulders. Some would be mentally draining maybe as they would require organising and making sure everything was running smoothly. Others like chefs and waiters would find it hard being on their feet feeding thousands of people.
  14. @3Sisters reading the post, I can see why the company are resorting to this as they have had some positives, however I do believe that we have come a long way since COVID began and I think it should be the guests choice maybe if they wish to have masks on if it makes them comfortable.
  15. @FJB yeah search people. X ray machines like in airports and sniffer dogs. Scanners may not pick up drugs but it will make people think twice about bringing them on if they know security is looking out for things like drugs, and any illegal contrebands.
  16. I find it baffling that drugs can be taken on board. Surely security can identify and stop things like this. If we go through security in airports and they can stop things, some may go through I grant you, but in general it is stopped.
  17. @Kat627 I'm with you on that, I wouldn't be happy to find my room being cleaned so late in the day. I guess we tend to be familiar with that being done in the mornings. And if customers know that a ship is short staffed, it will make the whole experience deflated as you would know that everything will be done at a slower pace than normal.
  18. @Kris Smith for what reasons do you know? I don't understand why fans are being banned.
  19. I prefer more of the British comedians such as Lee Evans or Micky Flanagan, however I doubt the cruise companies could ever afford to pay their fees.
  20. That's not nice to hear. You don't really think about drug use and things aboard a cruise. As for the staff turning the other cheek, it seems to be commonplace at the moment that these illegal things get overlooked because people don't want to confront and get into a potential difficult situation.
  21. @PaulB I was thinking the same then about the door decoration. Will we be seeing posters of the Spice Girls hanging on the doors
  22. @3Sisters yes I agree, I've been reading about the cruises along the Greek islands. I was quite surprised at how many there are, but as you said, the Azamara is considered the best of the cruises and it would definitely be something I would like to read more into before booking.
  23. It's the norm worldwide at the moment I'm afraid. Companies were happy to blame COVID for any misfortune or bad customer service at the time, however it feels like things haven't really improved much, and some are still blaming the hangover over COVID on why we are still experiencing these mistakes. I think companies need to begin taking pride in their roles again and work rather than playing the blame game.
  24. And what happens if you complain.. not a lot. You may get an apology if you're lucky, but an apology does not make up for the bad service etc received during your holiday
  25. @3Sisters is that what would happen do you think? Would the ships do that. I hope it doesn't damage the ships as if that clogs up the mechanical side of the boat.
