  1. They've been campaigning against smoking for years as we all know about passive smoking and even though I'm not a smoker and believe it's great you can go into a public place without smelling of smoke and inhaling other people's smoke. I don't tend to mind if people smoke outside for that reason but I can see why banning it would help improve air quality. Where can people go if they want or need something to smoke? Some people may need that fix there and then and find themselves needing to go some place to get that
  2. @PaulB Athens I would certainly find interesting as it's buildings and backdrops stand historically. I'm not too much of a party animal anymore so Corfu I would give a miss, but Crete again I wouldn't mind visiting. Many thanks for your help.
  3. @Cruising Caribbean I'm not a scientist or anything and if anyone has the correct reasoning or protocol then please feel free to correct me but once I was told by several people, I decided to look into it for my own personal gain. I believe it has something to do with the respiratory droplets that leave your mouth when you're speaking a simple phrase, and these droplets are blocked, which reduces the amount of respiratory viruses that would be emitted from droplets and aerosol.
  4. @PaulB I've never explored the entire country of Greece, it's something I would love to do at some point in my life. As @3Sistersmentioned, I'd be interested to hear what you think are the best places to visit.
  5. @Cruising Caribbean I didn't realise that there were 3 night getaways. It's a good idea, a weekend away but with a cruise, wouldn't it feel better to have a longer run. What sort of costs do you think you could get with a 3 night vacation?
  6. I flew to Malta before getting on board around the Mediterranean. On the way back, we stopped off for a day there before flying home.
  7. @Cruising Caribbean Amen to that. The amount of work and stress they must be under is not nice to see. With costs going up, companies have to take the drastic decision to cut staff, increasing the workload for the remaining staff must be disheartening for everyone concerned.
  8. @Cruising Caribbean I was shocked too as I was told by several nurses that masks were only effective for a short amount of time. In care homes, they would be told to change repeatedly and to change masks everytime they would enter another room.
  9. @FJB considering the masking was only apparently effective for 15 minutes and was advised to change every occasion, it did help somewhat
  10. @Cruising Caribbean I sound ignorant to the fact that I didn't know Costa Rica had 5 active volcanoes. But after reading your post, I would love to go and visit one of them. I think it will be spellbinding standing at an active volcano knowing what's ultimately underneath.
  11. @Cruising Caribbean I agree with you there. It seems everywhere around the globe is struggling. Establishments are low on staff, seeing as there is a large portion of people still unemployed, we can only assume it's either places are struggling to pay for staff or the unemployed refuse to work.
  12. @PaulB personally I believe a trip around Alaska would be the ideal destination. Just the thought of going there would fill me with excitement.
  13. It's Hollywood, of course it won't be realistic ha ha. Surprised it won't have a shark or dinosaur in there somewhere
  14. @3Sisters the Mediterranean next August. Flying to Malta and then a week around the Med. Cannot wait. 🤪
  15. Some industries put up their wages to keep staff, so maybe as COVID hit, people didn't want to go back to work so they upped their offers to entice them back and maybe now they can't sustain that cost now things re reasonably back to normal.
  16. I have watched the trailer and that was enough for me. I'm not really into horror films, and definitely not if I'm about to go in an infinity pool myself lol
  17. I don't recommend you watching "The infinity pool" movie that is out this year then, as it would no doubt put you off doing it again
  18. I think that will be awesome to have a zip line on a ship. What a backdrop to have that against. And snorkeling in the clear blue seas sounds like a dream. I can't wait to get on and do as many activities as we can.
  19. @PaulB I'm with you. I've worked in the industry myself at a young age, and I'm glad to be out of that environment if I'm honest. Don't think I could do it anymore.
  20. Yes squash is a fantastic sport, and a glass court would still be awesome to see. I'm wondering if rock climbing would be a good pastime. One thing I think my inner child would dream of is a large pool slide working it's way outside the cruise so as you are sliding around, it's clear slide you can see the whole ocean
  21. I tend to agree. Cruising is a romantic getaway for anyone, on the open seas with all the activities you wish on board and then going inbound in different locations, so to do that when couples first meet I'm guessing would be the ultimate holiday for them.
  22. With Valentine's Day approaching, and reading about princess cruise romantic packages, it made me think about how many people have met their partners while being on board?
  23. @3Sisters yes I continue to love the sport. Getting fresh air and playing something you love is what it's all about. I do enjoy most sports and try to play as much as I can. I used to play football and badminton too, and was members of teams. So if the cruises could even introduce badminton or squash, that would be outstanding. I wonder what sport from the world people would love to see on a cruise liner?
  24. @PaulB yes I do tend to agree with what you're saying. My family have all worked around the hospitality trade and the breweries do hold landlords to ransom really. My uncle worked hard and long hours and made a success of his place but he still struggled to actually make a decent living for himself after he paid everything out so in the end, ill health stopped him from continuing in the trade. But the way the world is, it really is hard to make a good living once the breweries take what they believe they owe.
  25. @3Sisters I started playing in my teens, going to the golf range with my father and was hooked really from there. So I've been playing on and off for the past 25 years or so. But then again, that's been the case with most sports.
