Donna Rheault
Has anyone flown into Vancouver airport a day early for cruise? How does your prepaid transport to the cruise ship work if you’re at a hotel instead of the airport?
Kendall James-Vargas
Hi @Donna Rheault! Your prepaid transfer should be transferable from the airport to the hotel. If you take a shuttle from the hotel to the port, the price would likely be about the same. I would call Princess Cruises just to make sure the line will cover the cost and not give you any pushback. Will you be staying at a hotel near the Vancouver port? I wouldn't be surprised with the hotel you were staying at offered a complimentary shuttle service to the port. You could double-check that with the hotel you are staying at! Also if you haven't booked your hotel in Vancouver yet, I recommend taking a look at some of these options. https://www.cruisehive.com/most-ideal-hotels-near-vancouver-cruise-port/38055
FJB
The last time I priced hotels in Vancouver for a pre-cruise overnight stay, I was shocked at the prices! Needless to say, I haven’t taken a cruise out of Vancouver yet.
Seaawgs
It is easy to walk into the Vancouver port, it's like a mall.. There are plenty of hotels close enough to walk and avoid sitting in traffic. We stayed at the Delta Hotel. Vancouver is a nice place to hang out and navigate on foot, enjoy! 1
3Sisters
@FJB I'm glad you shared this info. I would love to cruise out of Vancouver, but now I'm thinking I would need to spend more on a flight to arrive at the optimal time, avoiding a hotel fee. As much as I want to explore the area, maybe staying in a long-term Airbnb would be the better way. @Seaawgs The Vancouver port sounds pretty nice! Maybe that is why all of the hotels nearby are so costly! No need to water money in transportation when you can walk from your hotel to the port. Thanks for sharing that. I like the Delta Hotels. I have stayed at a few in the US. Which cruise ship did you sail out of in Vancouver?
Seaawgs
@3Sisters Celebrity Millennium. While the cruise was excellent, the tour afterwards left a bit to be desired. Talkeetna is fantastic, and I recommend getting out of Anchorage as quickly as possible. The vagrants are like mosquitoes. We used Marriott points for the Delta Hotel. Having their credit card is really beneficial when redeeming points.
