No internet on Princess Transatlantic

We went on our 2nd transatlantic cruise this year and no internet for days on each cruise. This has caused us to cancel future cruises with Princess. 

We gave never had this problem before. Very upset. Not acceptable. No excuse.

 If that is your only complaint then it sounds like a wonderful cruise!  We’ve only done 1 transatlantic cruise and loved every minute of it - no WiFi needed.

@lovetotravel104 That's such a bummer. This is not the first time I have heard of this issue. It seems while traveling with Princess Cruises, you should expect to have issues with the Wi-Fi. Hopefully you didn't miss out on anything too important!

No worries - Elon is in the process of fixing the internet in the middle of the sea.  Once he fixes the internet, he will be installing charging stations in the middle of the oceans to recharge those government mandated electric cruise ships.

I personally look forward to having a break from the internet. With all the bars, events and places to see, it will be relaxing to get away from all the world

@PaulB I know where you are coming from, but internet does come in  handy for excursions and looking to see where places are when you have a stop off.

@LukeJ That's true. It can be handy at times, but I also prefer to relax by "unplugging" from the internet. I even prefer to stray away from the stateroom television.

@LukeJ ok I agree to a degree. I guess it does have its pluses as well as it's negatives but having a break away from the rigamarole of the world is a holiday in itself.

I think its almost like a detox from all of the social media we are inundated with today! It's such a distraction from the present. If you are sitting on your phone or laptop during the vacation, you aren't really getting the opportunity to disconnect and unwind.

Yes, I agree. I find it bizarre that guests spend so much money on an experience, but then they are glued to their phones the whole time. If you are spending good money on a vacation, you might as well be present and fully enjoy it!

The good thing is that the cruise line, along with other Carnival-owned brands are have SpaceX's Starlink installed through the year, which would improve things a lot. The era of slow internet on cruise ships and lack of connectivity are almost over.

Unbeknownst to me, the Starlink service is actually faster than most at home internet packages! I didn't realize it is that good. Although I personally don't usually use the wifi on board, I'm most excited for the crew members that will have access to this. For most crew members, this is one of the only ways they can connect with their family for many months to even years.

@ombud I would imagine now the Starlink service is so much better! I haven't used it yet, but it seems so worth it. I don't really utilize the onboard wifi much and it's usually so patchy anyways. Starlink has changed the game for the cruise industry. All of the past service issues aren't a burden to guests any longer. Have you been able to use Starlink on a ship before?

@Cruising Caribbean i haven't used Starlink but I saw it mentioned online. I usually have a lot of port days and want to just relax / unplug onboard.

@ombud Starlink has changed the wifi service at sea! In my opinion, if you seriously needed wifi service for business or educational purposes, you need to invest in using the Starlink service. I have heard it's a significantly better and more reliable service onboard the cruise ships that have it. Although for leisure or more unimportant browsing the traditional service would probably do its job just fine.

@lovetotravel104 Did you have the option to purchase Starlink onboard?
