  1. Sickness is everyone on land at this time of the year, so no doubt confined onboard is even harder to escape from. As long as we stick to what people tell us, I know you know your body, but sometimes common sense does prevail. I always tend to listen to people's advice who have been there before me. It could prove to be valuable advice.
  2. Leave these people be, they aren't worth wasting your energy. People like this believe they have the divine right to everything. If we all require to queue, then that is what we do. Why some people believe they are above everyone else baffles me. Sometimes we can't do right for doing wrong. So the easiest conclusion for me is just to walk away from them.
  3. It's strange that you never take advantage of it really as much. I have relatives that have never been on a beach because of the location where they live, and it's on my doorstep and I don't go as much as I should. It may also have something to do with the weather is always atrocious and makes it harder to go.
  4. I'm with you on that score, they always tell you to avoid the salads, having ice in their drinks. It's true, and our bodies aren't used to that. So I always tend to aim for the hot foods, if cooked will go over the necessary temperature for salmonella to be avoided at least. However you can catch flu and colds just by touching things around you. So cleanse as you go, and that should cut the sickness bugs.
  5. What a lovely location to go on your vacation. I looked to go to Antigua before, and there are plenty of things to do there such as the tour around, or snorkeling with stingrays. It sounds magical. Maybe even opt in for some horse riding on the beach. Something I've never done before. To keep costs down, sightseeing around the island would also be effective.
  6. @PaulB that would be a marvelous invention. I can imagine lying in the pool, drink in hand watching a game of sorts. Life would seem perfect then. You would still have the views that surrounds you, for a quick glance to survey the beauty, and go back to the game. @3Sisters yeah that would also work, I'd have no idea how it could work. Maybe it would have very small breathable holes in the floor and it can allow any moisture to sleep through.
  7. I don't tend to do many water activities, despite living not far from the ocean. I'm trying to make myself have more days off, to spend with the family, however the weather in the UK isn't always great, which puts paid to most outdoor activities.
  8. I don't count myself lucky enough. I guess we all blight and moan about things, but a lot of people would give their right arm to be in my situation. I should be more privileged with what I've got. My parents couldn't afford anything when I was growing up. They tried their best, but I missed out on certain things but I was never bitter about it. It was a different world back then.
  9. That would do me perfectly. What an amazing idea. My ideal cruise would take me to different locations and go golfing a few hours on the golf course, hop back on the ship after a round and sail to the next course for another game the next day. I'd be in my element, and totally relax.
  10. I prefer kayaking or paddle boarding on a huge lake if I'm honest. It's totally a different feeling to the ocean. Whenever I'm on a lake, it feels to peaceful and you're at peace with yourself looking at the views as you just casually move along. It's a fantastic buzz in my opinion to the ocean.
  11. What a career to have a job where you can come up with ideas like this to improve cruises. It would be the best. How about speakers under the water at the pool so you can hear songs as you swim. Or a dryer corridor you walk through and it dries you so you're nice and dry before commencing with your next activity.
  12. I tend to agree and understand what you're saying, and I would be in the same position as you. There are some terrible roundabouts around, and there is always near accidents as nobody has a clue where to go on them. In Swindon, England, there is what's called the magic roundabout. It has a large roundabout and eight smaller roundabouts coming off it. Confusing is not the word. Done it once, never again
  13. I read that first line and sang Bob Marley I don't like cricket. Simple minds and all that. However your post I agree with. Let's all just relax, slow down in our lives and start enjoying themselves and counting yourself lucky. I can be quite negative myself at times, but then I remind myself, even affording to go cruising with my family and trying new things out makes me a lucky person.
  14. It's easily done. I can believe it can be naive kayakers out and becoming unstuck. I've been on kayaks myself, and you can lose your sense of direction and absent mindedness when you are enjoying, and I can imagine the panic when they look around see nothing around them other than water.
  15. I'm glad to see there have been a slowdown on the sickness bugs onboard cruises lately. There is nothing worse than on vacation and sickness surrounds you. If you're ill it certainly ruins anything positive you can take from the time away.
  16. The more ideas the merrier. Let's remember to patent any good ideas in case some CEO for cruise lines are reading these forums and decide to make a fortune.
  17. I am very interested in technology and engineering. I love the designs and the thinking behind the present cruises as it is. So just to have a think about future cruises does excite me. Basic ideas I believe like having a chip in your arm open your doors would be cool. Drones with your deliveries maybe, right to your stateroom. Create your own music file for your room.
  18. You can book larger taxis than can hold all your family. Or pre-book something before arriving in the city in case you get stuck. Organisation is key. Driving on the opposite side is a strange experience ha ha. If your natural instinct is to drive a certain way, then going around the roundabout in the opposite direction is unnerving. I'm told that America do not have roundabouts, is this true?
  19. @Cruising Caribbean yes here here to the trip, I like hearing people look forward to cruise trips. I have been on Mediterranean cruises before, the latest was a flight to Malta, and then a week cruise around Italy and Greece, and who doesn't like the stops in those countries.
  20. After reading about the eco friendly cruises that are rolling out, it's nice to see the future is looking bright. I wonder what far fetched futuristic ideas that we would like to see onboard in the future.
  21. Exactly right. Those are words I stick by, people are creatures of habits. Majority of people don't like change either because we are comfortable to what we have, and any inconvenience to us messes up our focus. So if we are used to eating certain things, then our pallets become accustomed to that, and when we eat something new, a lot don't like that.
  22. @Kendall James-Vargas I'm happy to pass on experiences. Southampton is a lovely city too, I do like the area, and yes I believe taxis are best to get around rather than hiring a vehicle anyhow. UK cities aren't as big obviously geographically than the US, so it doesn't take all that long to get around the area, meaning taxis are a better bet.
  23. It's just the nature of life isn't it. We spend most of our days at work rather than enjoying life. It's sad when you think of it, most people looking back, their achievements apart from children usually are how far in their career they got. The older I've got, the more I realise that there is more to life than work, and I should have spend more time trying to enjoy it more with my family and friends. I definitely want to see more of the world and soak up the history of the places. I've been on princess cruises ships before, and I thought it was a fantastic vacation aboard.
  24. @PaulB that's an interesting point you make, and even though I can't see it going as far as building a cruise ship out of bamboo, there are small boats made out of it. I believe it's a tradition if you go to places like Vietnam, and local fisherman do use bamboo boats to go out for their catch. I think a friend told me, you can book a boat and go out on it too.
  25. I guess you all have a point. I keep getting these thoughts running around my head, where I'm sleeping in a sleeping bag on the beach, and when I wake up, the tide has come in and I'm stuck in the middle of the sea with no land surrounding me.
