Kendall James-Vargas Posted March 2, 2023 Posted March 2, 2023 @Busia42 Have you booked a sailing for June 2023 to Alaska onboard Norwegian Cruise Line's Norwegian Jewel? These are some great things to know about the ship before you go! https://www.cruisehive.com/norwegian-cruise-ships/75511 Quote
PaulB Posted March 6, 2023 Posted March 6, 2023 @Busia42 oh this is my dream cruise. I would love to be on that trip. Quote
3Sisters Posted March 6, 2023 Posted March 6, 2023 @Busia42 You can't go wrong with cruising to Alaska! Norwegian Jewel will be a great cruise ship too. I'm curious, which port of call will you stop at? Quote
Cruising Caribbean Posted March 8, 2023 Posted March 8, 2023 (edited) @Busia42 One of the cool features of Norwegian Jewel is its hybrid technology! It was actually the first ship in its fleet to feature this eco-friendly technology added in 2016, all the while cruising with passengers as it was being installed. PaulB Posted March 9, 2023 Posted March 9, 2023 @Cruising Caribbean what type of eco friendly technology are on board this ship? I hope this is the way forward for all cruises. Quote
Cruising Caribbean Posted March 9, 2023 Posted March 9, 2023 There are so many different ways cruise ships are becoming more environmentally friendly. This particular ship, Norwegian Jewel, got its hybrid technology installed in 2016, towards the beginning of this really big industry push to reduce emissions and overall pollution. Norwegian Jewel has a Hybrid Gas Exhaust Scrubber system installed, assisting with the cruising line's initiative to reduce the overall sulfur cap. Several NCL ships were retrofitted for this system. I honestly don't know much more than that, but this website has some really good info on the global sulfur cap. https://www.dnv.com/maritime/global-sulphur-cap/FAQ.html Quote
