Robin-P
This headline intrigued me, seeing as I believe the CEO of Ambassador is the former CEO of Maritime Cruises. They went into liquidation cancelling several cruises in 2020, then promptly started a New company trading as Ambassador having purchased back liquidated 'stock'...... Allegedly.
Linda Smith
Ambassador Cruises - Ambience. Having just returned from 5 day Christmas cruise to Hamburg & Amsterdam on Friday 16th Dec. I have to say we decided we would not cruise again with this company again unless there were a lot of changes made. The staff, although in the main very pleasant, there were clearly not enough of them. The dining room system was complete chaos most of the time. Our section consisted of one table of 10 two tables of 4 one table of 6 and our table for two. One waiter fetching and carrying from kitchen and one serving. Usually started with 10 and worked down to two, consequently food brought out under covers by the time we got ours........ cold. Public rooms nicely presented and for the most part comfortable. Cabins ours very tired in much need of updating. Cabin steward over attentive... obviously looking for extra tip.... kept turning up like a bad penny asking if anything needed. Most off putting. Although we have done many times. Safety drill was a simple visit to our muster station. Told over loud speaker system we did not need to take lifebelt jackets with us? Whole thing took less than 10 minutes. Conclusion, under staffed, under trained, looked like cutting corners to save money and needs a lot more attention to detail. Duty free shops poor choice of goods for sale. Good points...... easy to get to Tillbury, parking good, embarkation process quick and efficient. Disembarkation no information given about where you would find your luggage. Not helpfull if new to cruising.
3Sisters
@Robin-P Wow, this is an interesting topic! Maybe this CEO shouldn't have the position any more. @Linda Smith Thanks for sharing your review of Ambassador Cruises. I actually have never sailed with the line before so this is very valuable feedback. It sounds like this experience was no good. What a shame!
Kendall James-Vargas
@Robin-P I found an article worth taking a look at. https://www.cruisehive.com/the-maiden-voyage-of-ambassador-cruise-line-was-it-any-good/70804 @Linda SmithIt seems like you aren't the only one disappointed in the ship! BarbaraP
We have just got back from P&O Arcadia new year cruise to Hamburg & Zeebrugge. Same issues with under staffing in Meridian restaurant, although we never got cold food. Huge queues to even get a table. Not sure whether it's problems recruiting or whether it's P&O penny pinching to recoup pandemic losses. Rumour has it that experienced staff have been redeployed to Arvia for her maiden voyage. If that's true its a poor way to treat Arcadia passengers. Many many annoyed disillusioned passengers!
PaulB
@Linda Smithit's a shame things like this happen. We pay and build up our expectations to have something like that ruin it for you.
Kendall James-Vargas
@BarbaraP Did P&O Cruises do anything special to celebrate the new year? I wonder if that's the case, but I certainly hope not! Do you think the cruise line may be having difficulty staffing its ships post shutdown?
