ginastazzn
I understand but I have had Bariatric surgery. I very seldom eat all of my meals. So the increase in costs is hard to take. 1
MrsHowell
I was on the Magic out of Bew York in August 2022 and never noticed a difference regarding any cutbacks on food or increase in charges BUT 2 months later I'm on the Magic again out of Virginia and boy was I getting heated. #1 When you want a late night snack you can always go to grab a pizza 24/7 Well not anymore. #2 You can only get a disposable (candy) straw if it's a frozen drink #3 Room Service charge IS NOT reasonable. As far as the straw was concerned, I was livid and found myself always arguing with the bar staff in the casino. A frikin STRAW??? That alone might cause me to try another cruise line. I enjoyed working mycwsy up to diamond status on Carnival and think doing the same on a cruise line that appreciates their customers a little more, will be just as much fun. The straw may seem like a minor issue but here is what Carnival may not consider #1. Women wear lipstick and would rather not have to put it on constantly if they prefer to drink a beverage with a straw. #2. Drinking Ginger Beer burns your lips terribly if you drink it without a straw #3. Sugary beverages are just plain old Sticky on your lips and after awhile it becomes undesirable #4. I'm on vacation and want to enjoy a vacation without thinking about having to pack my own GD straps. What is this coming to?
DeanneB
The world is moving away from plastic straws and anything plastic for single-use items. There is no turning back. So it has to be paper straws or candy stick straws. Some cafes and restaurants have the dried grass tube for a straw. You can bring your own silver re-usable straws next time. I think you can request a meal, especially for your dietary needs.

Cruising is changing at the moment with a focus on the environment, cutting costs due to the current global markets and to make up for the pandemic. Carnival had it hard compared to the other lines.
Kendall James-Vargas
@ginastazznThat's such an interesting thought on food costs on the rise. I too don't overindulge in the food offerings onboard. I tend to eat normal portions and not have the urge to consume more than average. Food costs are increasing everywhere, so cruise lines have to keep up with the rising industry prices. @MrsHowell I'm seeing the straw standard quite often. Theme parks and zoo attractions are not offering them, sometimes lids aren't even offered. I get the idea of reducing waste and cutting costs but a staw can be nice every once in a while. There are lots of reusable straw options out there nowadays. I think you might as well invest in one because I'm not sure we are getting them back.
