  1. Those stats are shocking. I had a friend that took his own life, not on a cruise, but it came as a massive shock. We had no idea he was struggling, and I saw him that morning and had a good time with him, and by the evening, we were told he went missing and we went looking for him. We always encourage people to speak out, and I've always read that sometimes there are telling tale signs, but there was nothing with him. To this day, I don't know what happened that made him decide to do it. It still confuses me to this day.

  2. @3Sisters it's worrying isn't it, while all you want me to do is not wake up the following morning and feel like you're dying, and people alongside you feel as you have to drink to have a good time. Whenever I go out, I sometimes volunteer myself as the designated driver, and then they can't say anything untoward. But then again why should they, why can't people just allow others to drink whatever they want without judgement. It's all peer pressure, and I find myself drinking less and less these days.

  3. I agree with @LukeJ, what is wrong with people these days. How can you find that entertaining, injuring and innocent animal like that. I've noticed that the first instinct on people's mind is spite, and not be happy to allow people or things just to continue living the way they want.

  4. Where I come from, quiz is a very popular event. You will be lucky to get a seat if you're not there early enough. People love a competitive event, and it gives you a chance to have a good think.

  5. I'm sure they had this issue before. It's such a lovely part of the world, I do enjoy my days in Spain. The food in particular I love. I'd be one of these Brits that would move to Spain in a heartbeat and live out the remainder of my life in a place in the sun. What a dream that would be.

  6. Most of the European countries, the drinking age is 18, however a couple you can get served at 16 years of age. I can't speak for the rest of the countries, but in the UK, there is a law, very rarely used, with the drinking age of 18, if a 16 year old is having a meal with his parents, they are permitted to either a small glass of wine or a cider. But it's hardly heard of and never acted upon really in restaurants, but a little loophole for anyone wanting to try it.

  7. Wow, free room service. That is very rare. I bet the crew members onboard really love that incentive. I cannot imagine how many people would not be using that service if it's free. Poor chefs and maids rushed off their feet while the run around to 70% of the passengers who would like breakfast in bed.

  8. I'm with you. It's embarrassing to see sometimes. Fortunately if it gets to the point of no return, you can just get up and leave and go somewhere else where there is better entertainment. The beauty of cruise ships is you can go anywhere you want .

  9. One day I do plan to go on a world cruise. After most of my life just working, I do hope to see most of the world before I retire indefinitely or unable to see things. I don't know or have any idea the costs of this, but if you can do it, then let's do it

  10. Very true. Rather than draining your energy, simply walk away from them and let them deal with their negativity on their own. Surround yourself with positive and fun people and you will find life is a lot easier for yourselves.

  11. I'm sure we are married to the same person. It's certainly déjà vu when reading about your situation. However she loves vacations, especially cruising. So I'm happy to be swept along with the ride as long as it keeps her happy for a spell.

  12. I have been on cruises where there were sickness bugs doing the rounds. Fortunately we never caught it onboard, but felt a little sick after we returned, but didn't amount to anything bad thank goodness. Unfortunately, people do not do enough to keep germs away, the countless times, I see people never washing their hands. Basic hygiene is to be looked at, and we should go back to cleansing properly.

  13. I've come across this myself, people in front of me having a rant because they couldn't use the restroom. I explained there is a sign stating that they are cleaning the area, and they turned to say well they should do it another time. Yes, I see the company is at fault because they didn't consult with that passenger about the best time to clean their restrooms.

  14. How about a massive TV on the front of the ship for live sports. It can rise from the deck, and allow everyone to chill outside while watching the football etc.. or a massive slide from the top of the cruise into the sea.

  15. Very true, our bodies and mind do go through changes. Younger I'd be obsessed with playing football, every second of the day I'd be with a ball, now I can't stand the game. Don't watch it, follow it or anything. No idea why, just changed over the years. My favourite ingredients for dinner is all the green beans, where again as a kid I wouldn't dare have them near me on the plate.

  16. No way. Rather have a hotel and a nice soft bed to sleep on than sleeping outside. Even though it sounds magical on the sands of the beach, it could be quite dangerous too. But one thing I'm sure, you will always have brilliant memories.

  17. I like to go with the flow when I'm on vacation. I don't tend to want to organise or plan anything. If we go offshore and we see an excursion that we are interested in, then we will do it there and then. If it's the other side of the country, it will not be done. I hate travelling the best of times, so if I have to travel an extra 2/3 hours to do an excursion, then it simply won't be entertained.
