Large ships on inside passage

I see in May of 2023 larger cruise ships like Ovation of the Seas, Quantum of the Seas, and Celebrity Solstice depart Vancouver and terminate in Seattle one week later. Does the northbound trip follow the "true" Inside Passage on the east side of Vancouver Island, or do these larger cruise ships first sail south and then travel north through open ocean on the west side of the island?

Cruise lines website say they do, looking at their itineraries, they do sail inside passage from Seattle. As these are the one cruisers are looking for.  I love these literary, the ones from Princess looks exciting.
