Why is the Mardi Gras' home port not New Orleans?

That's a good question, but I think it may have something to do with the ship size and refueling with LNG. Ships have to navigate through the Mississippi River, which could proove tricky for the larges ships such as Mardi Gras. That's my guess anyway. Only Carnival will know why they didn't choose New Orleans. Maybe someone else can think of a reason why.
