Kendall James-Vargas Posted October 23, 2023 Posted October 23, 2023 Royal Caribbean Group has partnered with the BOG for the Virgin Islands Port Authority to expand two cruise ports, Fredriksted and Crown Bay. These expansions will allow for larger ships to call at these ports. Guests will be charged $5 each for these upgrades, and that is well worth it! I'm excited to see these Eastern Caribbean ports of call go through a little makeover. This will allow more cruisers to visit these destinations! Quote
LukeJ Posted October 26, 2023 Posted October 26, 2023 Potentially it can work and be a good idea which will only improve things at the port. You always find that these can be problematic or inconvenient at the start, however looking at the overall picture, it will no doubt be a positive step forward. 1 Quote
3Sisters Posted October 26, 2023 Posted October 26, 2023 @LukeJ The Bahamas increased taxes after its renovations and it's been quite a success! https://www.cruisehive.com/massive-increase-in-cruise-visitors-across-the-bahamas/110494 https://www.cruisehive.com/bahamas-cruise-port-exceeds-passenger-visits-heads-for-record/113228 These taxes were much higher than what is projected for the U.S. Virgin Islands. I'm excited for this expansion! Quote
