Slot Machine Cost

Recommended Posts

On our cruise on the Dream this year, my wife and I both had a $25 casino credit. When we went to play the slots, we discovered there aren't really any penny machines anymore. Oh, they call them penny machines but the minimum bet is $ .75. Needless to say, our credits disappeared in less than 5 minutes. That pretty much tells me that where I enjoyed the casino on more than a dozen previous cruises, I won't be going back unless I choose a table game. Frankly, I consider the issue to be trying to "take the last nickel out of my pocket" - in this case at the rate of 15 at a time. This was in the smoke free casino.

@Tootie I'm a frequent flyer to both land based and cruise ship casinos. I'm not sure when you last visited a casino but it sounds like it has been some time as Penny slots have not really been "penny" slots for a very very long time. With that stated the payouts have increased greatly as well.

It is confusing about you comment about you'll choose a table game.  black jack and other table games on ship have a minimum of $10 per hand bet so that means with $25 credit you would get to play 2.5 hands.

I'm thinking there are a lot of other activities on a cruise ship that you might enjoy v. Casino

@euroguy I was hoping to see you chime in on this post! You know you cruise casino stuff. Maybe Bingo would be more promising. You can lose lots of cash pretty quickly playing blackjack.

@Tootie As fun as it is to play in the casino onboard, to me it's not worth it because I don't know what I'm doing. If you enjoy playing at the casino, you may have to save a bit more. The same thing applies to the arcade. My kids love the arcade, but it was $3.50 per game the last time we went, sometimes more. Maybe bring a deck of cards and good company instead. The table games add up too! I love the smoke-free casinos. I try to avoid walking through smoke-friendly casinos on ships.

@euroguy Of course! I expect nothing less than at least one bingo card per cruise. You never know when you will be the winner! Even the second and third-place winners can make some pretty good cash. I think the last time I cruised the bingo cards were 25 each. I don't remember if that was the price for the 3 cards or just the single play. At least I know how bingo works. You have taught me a little bit about how the slot machines work, but I don't know if I'm willing to risk enough to make the type of returns you make. I will live vicariously through you!

@euroguy That's wild! You have to pay for a shirt to be a walking advertisement. That sounds like a trick. What's with the special 3rd card? I guess that third card just ups your chances of winning. I guess that is a selling point, buy more and you are more likely to win! Have you won a bingo game on a cruise before? Competition is pretty fierce. The last cruise I went on the entire theatre was pretty much filled.
