3Sisters Posted November 26 Posted November 26 CCL has banned wireless speakers. Is that a good idea? I think absolutely. Nobody wants to hear other people's blasting music on their cruise. I like to take a bluetooth speaker off the ship to secluded beach spots, but it is what it is. Portable, bluetooth, wireless speakers are now banned, but it's quite alright. CCL has plenty of musical options throughout the ship. It's alright to leave that behind while you cruise. You can always use your phone speaker! Quote
Cruising Caribbean Posted November 27 Posted November 27 It's important to be mindful of this when packing, but it shouldn't be a deal breaker. There is music all over the ship. If you need tunes, just bring your phone and headphones. It isn't the end of the world! From live music by the pool to live music inside or a DJ at an activity, music isn't sparse onboard. Quote
Cruising Caribbean Posted Friday at 07:32 PM Posted Friday at 07:32 PM @FJB That's everywhere, but it's no big deal. The big deal is when you bring a wireless speaker without knowing they aren't allowed and it gets confiscated. Speaking of, has anyone ever had anything confiscated pre-cruise? Do you get it back or does the line just keep it? Quote
euroguy Posted Saturday at 02:27 AM Posted Saturday at 02:27 AM @Cruising Caribbean i had my pocket knife in my check luggage and CCL Security left a letter in my bag stating they took it and thst i could claim it on the way back, which i did. The crappy part was it was in seattle which you can port your luggage direct from ship to airport which i did, so i had to find a FedEx location to ship my own pocket knife to home as I wouldn't be allowed on airplane. It really boggles my mind about how now you can't take pocket knife and scissors on the ship all in the name of "safety" you know how much damage and person can do with a fork or steak knife? And guess what thwy are all over the place on a ship, just ready for the taking. Hell you can kill people with a ball point pen, are they going to start banning those also. Im thinking platic utensils are in order, oh wait those can be sharpened too. Give me an "F" ing break. 1 Quote
Cruising Caribbean Posted Tuesday at 02:38 AM Posted Tuesday at 02:38 AM @euroguy That's a wild story! I can't believe you ended up having to ship your pocket knife home. I understand that you can't bring a pocket knife onboard, but at least you were able to retrieve it after the fact. It's true that a steak knife is just as dangerous, but I also see the importance of keeping all weapons off of the ship. Thankfully you didn't have any bad intentions with that pocket knife, but another person could have been different. My kids have almost snuck scissors onboard an airplane in a backpack. That would have been embarrassing if I had it removed from my bag and I didn't even know it was there. Quote
FJB Posted Tuesday at 03:15 AM Posted Tuesday at 03:15 AM On my last cruise, my bag was flagged by the ship. I had to do the walk of shame down to the cargo hold of the ship to meet with the security officer to open my bag for further inspection. As a farmer, I always like to have some basic tools with me in the event something needs fixing. After explaining this to the security woman, I was able to take my suitcase and tools back to my cabin where nothing needed fixing this go round. It was just a small screwdriver, a pair of vise grips, and an all-in-one tool. These items stay in my suitcase - 1st time in 20 years they were flagged for further screening. Always good to have these items to fix a wheel on a suitcase or a loose screw on a tripod, among many other things. 1 Quote
Cruising Caribbean Posted Tuesday at 03:45 PM Posted Tuesday at 03:45 PM @FJB I'm surprised your bag got flagged for a screwdriver and an all in one tool! At least we know the cruise lines are doing their jobs at protecting all cruisers onboard. The screwdriver isn't a big threat to me, but can you imagine what other things the port security has found? The port security has surely seen some crazy thing, just like airline security. Particularly all things fire hazardous like lighters should not be allowed onboard. Don't you think matches and lighters are more dangerous and deadly than a pocket knife? Quote
