Kendall James-Vargas Posted November 22 Posted November 22 Guests onboard RCL's Explorer of the Seas received a notification about the current safety concerns in Haiti. The ship will continue to stop in Labadee, Haiti as scheduled. This area has been under some civil unrest, making guests super uneasy about stopping there. RCL has ensured guests that Labadee is a low-crime, cruise-exclusive destination with its own private security. Do you all think Labadee should be considered safe despite the local crime? Quote
kefthecruiser Posted November 22 Posted November 22 One can only hope that RCL has is right. Personally, it just seems too sketchy for me. Private security? how good is that? What authority do they have? An unsigned letter from a corporation doesn't mean much to me. Quote
Cruising Caribbean Posted November 22 Posted November 22 @kefthecruiser I totally see what you are saying. What does the private security really mean? I doubt they are really RCL employees. Are they RCL employees? I don't even know. I would imagine they are like subcontracted employees employed through a third party agency. That's just a guess though. I understand there is a big distance between Port-au-Prince and Labadee, but when has distance stopped crime? Quote
