Cruising Caribbean Posted November 15 Posted November 15 Everyone talks about the new RCL ships, but does anyone cruise on the old RCL anymore? I feel like RCL isn't investing as much into the older ships, and manny RCL guests aren't even considering to cruise on them because of their age. Adventure of the Seas is older and apparently not getting any upgrades any time soon. Allure of the Seas is 5 years overdue for enhancements, but at least it's getting about $100 million in upgrades from the Royal Amplified Program in February 2025! Does anyone even like the older RCL ships anymore? Quote
Mic Posted November 21 Posted November 21 Yes we have cruised on the Mariner Seas twice last year, and have booked 2 cruises on her in 2025. There is just a different feeling on this ship, and it’s all positive. From everyone on the ship. We really liked the “tempo”, and we have been on the Allure and Harmony, a little too busy for us. 1 Quote
Cruising Caribbean Posted November 25 Author Posted November 25 @Mic Thanks for your input! I think you are really spot on about the pace of the people onboard smaller, older ships. The tempo is slower and the crew members disposition reflects a more relaxed disposition. I think the crew to guest ratio is better on the older ships, but correct me if I'm wrong. Manny of the larger ships now have a diluted guest to crew ratio and the crew members have a very heavy workload. The workload is heavier, but the tip pool should be higher. At least it would make sense! I hope those crew members that do more get more tips! Quote
