thorpemarlene Posted November 12 Posted November 12 (edited) There is a pretty strong rumor out there that MSC will be building a new class of ship. This ship will be quite a bit larger than the Icon of the Seas of RCL. The ship will be debuting in approx. five years. MSC has not officially made this announcement so its not in concrete yet, but if this rumor is true they are really making a statement that they are major players on the world stage and will compete with everyone. I believe that they are showing everyone that they already are with the move into Galveston and now Alaska. I talked with an agent from MSC three days after they opened up the Alaska bookings and she told me that they had already at that point had the maiden cruise on May 11 2026 heavily booked. (and yes, we are part of that booking 🙂 " Edited November 12 by thorpemarlene Quote
3Sisters Posted November 12 Posted November 12 @thorpemarlene I really hope so! I do think MSC Cruises will begin to dominate in the market pretty soon. I have been loyal to the line for a while and attained top loyalty status with the line. The prices are right and the ships are really beautiful, featuring all of the popular amenities that competitors offer. I would love to see "MSC Constellation" become a real life thing, competing with RCL's Icon of the Seas. Where have you seen this rumor? I definitely want to follow this closely because I would be one of the first to book on it! Quote
thorpemarlene Posted November 12 Author Posted November 12 (edited) I was told this by a MSC rep, who I cannot name and then a few days after I saw a YouTube video from a cruse guru who mentioned the same thing only in greater detail. He speculated that the ship will end up in Miami. This same Youtube person came out a couple of days before the Alaska announcement was made official and stated MSC would be traveling out of Seattle to Alaska, so I think he does in fact have an inner connection someplace. Perhaps he has a distant cousin who works with the Port of Seattle office so he had insider info . I don't know Ha Ha Edited November 12 by thorpemarlene Quote
3Sisters Posted November 12 Posted November 12 @thorpemarlene I'm so shocked this news came from an MSC Cruise Rep! That's a serious rumor then! It's clearly circling within. I'm going to do more digging on this. I know MSC World America is up next to join the fleet in 2025. I think I found your video guy. 1 Quote
LukeJ Posted November 12 Posted November 12 I've also heard that MSc are going to be dominating the cruise industry. I do hope so, as they seem such a well run and fantastic company and their ships are really well looked after and maintained as well as immersive vacations onboard. I'm glad that they are doing everything properly and keeping standards to a high level. Quote
thorpemarlene Posted November 13 Author Posted November 13 LukeJ: I agree with you on that they are a well run company. I think the one big difference is that they are a private company, family owned and operated. They do not have to worry about stockholders and answering questions from anyone. Its obvious when they came into the United States, they had a plan. Maybe the flaws that a lot people saw was the differences between a European line vs American lines such as food for an example. But what I have seen is that they have improved every year and are listening to what needs to change. They did not become one of, if not the largest commercial carrier in the world by accident, or becoming the third or fourth largest cruise carrier in the world by accident. They moved the operations from Italy to Switzerland for a reason, (probally taxes). This is a very smart, organized family. Quote
Cruising Caribbean Posted November 13 Posted November 13 @thorpemarlene I completely agree! The fact that MSC Cruises is family operated speaks volumes. Not only is it family-run but MSC Cruises is just one aspect of the brand. MSC Group is a leader in the shipping and container industry. When all of the cruise lines were loosing out on so much income during he pandemic, MSC Cruises stayed strong because of its ties to the shipping and container industry. The line's food is the bomb! I actually find it fresher than competitors such as CCL and RCL. Quote
LukeJ Posted November 15 Posted November 15 That's the difference in why it's doing very well for itself, a family owned company that listens to it's passengers and willing to adapt and do what it can for it's company. As long as they continue to do the basics like that and work with guests, they will always continue to strive to be the best because they do things correctly. The companies as mentioned with stockholders and more interested in keeping them happy and ripping guests off and unwilling to listen to anyone's queries, simply deserve to lose their customers. 1 Quote
