Kendall James-Vargas
As a Florida resident I have been eyeing Tropical Storm Nine, soon to be Hurricane Helene. It's supposed to be a category 3 hurricane that will hit near the pan handle of Florida. I hope it doesn't get too strong. This tropical cyclone will likely cause some cruise delays out of Tampa and the west cost of Florida in the coming days. Is anyone cruising out of the west coast of Florida this week? Cruising Caribbean
MSC Seascape already rerouted an itinerary to avoid Tropical Depression nine. The line is definitely ahead of the game for making these itinerary changes so early on. https://www.cruisehive.com/msc-cruises-ship-changes-course-to-avoid-developing-storm/145287 I imagine there will many more cruise updates in the coming days into Thursday. Hopefully Cuba doesn't get slammed too hard.
Kendall James-Vargas
Hopefully I don't loose any power and I'm able to track the storm online as it passes. Thankfully I'm south of the eye of Helene but I did have to make preparations for the outer bands. Our public schools will be off of school on Thursday. Water and gas is going quickly. Thankfully I got my hands on both before the stores ran out!
3Sisters
Here is an update for Hurricane Helene. Carnival Elation and Carnival Paradise itineraries have been impacted. https://www.cruisehive.com/carnival-ships-forced-to-remain-at-sea-as-homeports-close/145587 Port Canaveral has also closed due to Helene impacting an MSC Seashore itinerary. https://www.cruisehive.com/msc-cruises-ship-extending-sailing-after-port-closure/145723
Cruising Caribbean
Many other ships were impacted due to Hurricane Helene. A couple a RCL ships were stuck out at sea, including Serenade of the Seas. Hopefully the Florida Big Bend is doing alright after such a massive hurricane! I didn't expect it to become a category 4. Thankfully it's dying down now. There is another one brewing in the Atlantic. It should be named in the coming days, and it's looking like another mean one. We have to keep an eye on that one as it strengthens over the weekend. Forecasters are saying it's going to be powerful with a similar trajectory as Helene.
Kendall James-Vargas
Helene was such a devastation. Tampa took a bit to reopen its port as it got slammed by Hurricane Helene. Many ships were affected by the Tampa port closure and faced many itineraries changes due to it. I'm thinking of all of those still without power. Helene with the Carolinas really bad. They weren't prepared for it at all. I know many struggling to get food and water. What a disaster! Thankfully Hurricane Kirk in the Atlantic has a track that doesn't make landfall. LukeJ Posted yesterday at 06:31 AM Share Posted yesterday at 06:31 AM @Kendall James-Vargas I can never imagine what it's like to have a hurricane thad bad. How did you get on with it, did it affect you and your family at your home or did it only affect the ocean and the ports?
Kendall James-Vargas Posted yesterday at 03:32 PM Author Share Posted yesterday at 03:32 PM @LukeJ Unfortunately it cause so much devastation in areas that didn't anticipate it. Typically you seem more costal areas flooding and getting destroyed, but Hurricane Helene went way beyond, flood and destroying many inland states. Thankfully I was spared but so many are still without power and lacking resources. Many people's homes are completely destroyed, and it's so sad to see. Many loved ones and friends were impacted.
