Leaving Kids in Stateroom

I have followed Matt and Abby Howard, and they are now parents. These vloggers left their children in a stateroom sleeping while they went out. They were on the monitor! I don't see this big deal. Is it really not allowed to occur? I have friends who do this all the time, even at neighbors houses. What's the big deal? I am a parent, and I haven't done this because my children don't go down to sleep easily. I just don't think it's an issue if they are on a monitor being watched.

How old are the kids?  8-10 years Old? Yeah that’s probability old enough.

The kids were young, like toddlers. It was a whole online scandal. The vloggers came out and made a public statement about how they had family checking in on the kids for them. I just don't think it's a bad parenting move. People do it all the time. It's not good if you can't see your child, but if you are within walking distance with eyes on them, I think it's fine.

I wrestle with it. I like 24/7 eyes on my children and I don't use baby monitors. In the event of an emergency, being far from my children seems unsafe. I wouldn't do this, but I don't know if the family should be publicly shamed for this either. To each their own, but this news doesn't make them bad parents. I would give them some grace! Being a parent is hard enough!
