Cruising Caribbean
A Harmony of the Seas guests fell off the balcony and has passed away. How horrible it that? I can't imagine how this family must be hurting. This guest was a 12 year old child! I get chills just thinking about it. The cruise was actually to celebrate this child's birthday! This boy fell on to the Central Park atrium around 5pm on a cruise on its route back to Galveston, TX. In 2019 another child passed by falling over a Harmony of the Seas balcony too. This makes me think the design isn't all that safe.

This kid won the award.
Cruising Caribbean
@FJB It's so sad. I really can't imagine loosing a child. It was clearly accidental, but ended as a tragic mistake. The interior balcony design is interesting. I wonder if the balcony hight is the same at the ocean front balconies.
Seaawgs
How many sail in these cabins successfully vs. how many fall off, it's simple math. The design flaw is with the individual. We all do dumb stuff and some consequences are greater than others. 2
Kendall James-Vargas
@Seaawgs It's the sad truth. Unfortunately kids don't always understand their actions. It seemed like an accidental situation, but woh knows if it was avoidable. Sometimes kids are just kids and act without thinking of the consequence. I can't believe this is how a birthday cruise ended thought. What a tragedy.
Seaawgs
@Kendall James-Vargas I should be dead 10 times over for the idiotic stuff I've done, however, I would be solely to blame for the outcome. Guardrails do not exist on every road. Some parish due to a simple lack of miscalculation. Riding a bike is no fun with training wheels.
Cruising Caribbean
@Seaawgs I understand what you are saying, but it feels so much worse when it's a child. Children make mistakes, but you just can't protect them from everything. I wish there were ways to keep kids safe always, but that's an impractical thought. This one just ended up more than a lesson learned.
Kendall James-Vargas
@Seaawgs Well said. It's still sad, but it's the unfortunate truth. Accidents happen and parents can't hover over their children forever. I just can't imagine how I would feel as the parents in this situation. As a parent myself, this may just be the worst possible thing to happen in a parent's life time, outliving a child. I feel so deeply for this family. I just can't stand seeing these accounts. I never get desensitized to this.
