Filming Taboo

Recommended Posts

Do you care if you get filmed without your consent? People are videoing and photographing things left and right on a cruise ship. It's likely you have been in the background of many guest photos. Does that bother you? One CCL guest was bothered by this. It's almost impossible to avoid nowadays! Influencers are a dime a dozen now. I have loads of influencer friends. This is how they make a living! Apparently, you could be publicized by CCL without knowing it because it's part of the line's terms and conditions. How do you feel about that?

I don't want to be filmed. I don't like the world we live in today with zero privacy. I understand that it's all around us, but I don't want to be publicized without consent. I actually has no idea CCL had this policy. I bet all cruise lines follow the same policy. In fact, cruise lines are filming guests a day long. It's supposed to be to protect guests, and it does protect guests (which I appreciate). This allows for zero privacy though. If my kids are being filmed, I'm even more cautious. No one should have the right to film my kids without my consent. If it's in the background, it's not as bad, but if I see someone seemingly aiming a camera or phone at my children, I will approach that person.

I see what you are saying, but I feel like I should have the right to deny someone the opportunity to film me.I tend to dress up nice or if I'm wearing a bathing suit, I feel no one has the right to film me. Particularly intentional filming of others I find weird. If I'm going to film someone intentionally, I'm going to ask for permission. It's sketchy when you see someone who is intentionally filming you without permission. I was at the grocery store the other day and an older lady said I want a photo of your family and just took the photo. She didn't ask and I showed much discomfort in it. She seemed alright, but no one should be taking picture of children without adult consent.

I agree with @FJB. If you want privacy, don't leave your stateroom. Everything else in public is subject to being publicized. If you want an off the grid experience, don't go on a cruise. Cruising is loads of fun, but you are around large groups of people for the most part. You can't expect privacy in a social setting. There are private yachts and intimate cruises that will give you a more exclusive experience if you prefer it!
