Flgrl8
Just read how NCL has changed it's itinerary for the Dawn and not going to Copenhagen. The Prima's 2nd sailing should be finishing in Copenhagen, but now I'm not sure if this is going to happen because of the drought conditions and the salt inflow thru the locks. This will change things dramatically for our departure city. Does anyone have or heard of any changes?
DeanneB
When are you sailing on the Dawn? The August 16th sailing has canceled Copenhagen like you have mentioned, the drought and high level of sea salt. There is a chance the NCL might me considering the scenario that it might be water level better on the next sailing.
Flgrl8
I'm going on the 2nd sailing for the new Prima. I was told they would use tenders to bring guests in if necessary.
Steven
Same thing happened on the Gem a couple weeks back. Dropped one port in the Greek islands and changed the disembark port requiring a 2 hour bus ride each way. Some other issues with check in, flight, dining reservations. I'm not sailing Norwegian anymore. Hoping Oceania hasn't changed.
DeanneB
@Flgrl8 Ah that could work. The problem is the port is restricting large ships because of the shallow waters, using smaller boats could definitely work. That is a bit of an adventure too! DeanneB
@StevenI am sorry, the restriction isn't NCL's fault. Drought is a natural phenomenon and this happens occasionally in ports. A similar instance happened with RCCL Jewel of the Seas and HAL MS Rotterdam they both have to make adjustments and multiple itinerary changes due to the low water levels. Though I hope they can replace Copenhagen with an equally interesting port of call.
