Please don’t overlook the M V Brittanic in your celebration. She was the first motor vessel in the Cunard fleet and served as a troop carrier during WW 2.
Reconditioned after the war, she sailed on her “maiden” voyage from Liverpool to New York in May 1948. I was a passenger when she sailed triumphantly into New York harbor, I believe on May 26, I believe! What a supreme moment for Cunard! She has since been laid to rest, but her memories remain in a young lad’s mind! Jeffrey Erskine
